Moving Forward with Faith

”Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,“Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Here, the Apostle Paul speaks to us about a fundamental aspect of our spiritual journey: the art of forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

In our lives, we often find ourselves burdened by the weight of past mistakes, regrets, and disappointments. It's easy to get stuck in the quagmire of yesterday, allowing it to define our present and dictate our future. However, Paul reminds us that as believers, we are called to a higher purpose—a purpose that requires us to shed the shackles of the past and press on toward the prize that awaits us in the future.

But what does it mean to forget what is behind? It doesn't mean erasing the memories or denying the lessons learned. Instead, it's about releasing the grip that the past holds on us. It's about letting go of bitterness, resentment, and self-condemnation. It's about embracing the forgiveness and grace that God offers us freely and fully.

As we look to the future, we do so with hope and anticipation. We strain toward what is ahead, knowing that our journey is not one of aimless wandering but purposeful pursuit. Our eyes are fixed on the prize—the ultimate prize of eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And as we press on toward this goal, we do so with courage, determination, and faith.

But this journey is not without its challenges. There will be obstacles along the way, moments of doubt and despair. Yet, even in the midst of adversity, we are reminded of God's faithfulness and promise to never leave us nor forsake us. With God by our side, we can face the future with confidence, knowing that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, let us heed the words of Paul and embrace the call to forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead. Let us release the burdens of the past and step boldly into the future that God has prepared for us. And may we do so with hearts full of faith, minds renewed by His Word, and spirits empowered by His Holy Spirit.

Stay blessed and rapturable!
