Choosing your life’s partner: a challenging but possible decision

Life is full of choices and decisions to take. Some decisions and choices are easy to take than others. For example, the choice of what clothes to wear is not as difficult or important as the choice of what program to study at the university or the choice of where to work. The decisions we make can dictate the steps we take in the future; steps to a glorious future with God, or steps to destructive future. The greatest and most challenging part in decision’s making lays in the hand of the one who decides. Some decisions need to be taken seriously. To choose a life’s partner (husband or wife) needs a lot of precautions, because as an old expression in my own language says: “He who misses a good wife (or partner) misses his riches” and the Bible says in Pro 18:22 “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD”. The Bible gives us some criteria that everyone who wants to have a life’s partner should think about. Genesis 24 talks about how Abrah...

The hope and the inheritance of our salvation

Eph 1:18 " The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints," This morning I waked up thinking about heaven. Heaven will be great: there will be no more sorrow, no more pain, no more sickness, etc.... BUt as long as we live on this earth, we will have to face many tribulations and problems. But what will make us strong is not only to know that God is with us, but we need also to fix our eyes in the things ahead,i.e. heaven ( the New jerusalem where the righteous will dwell). Fot this last reason, we need to be aware of the promises of God an,d as Paul writes in Ephesians 1:18, there is a hope attached to God's calling and an inheritance He reserved for the saints. But there are some important points we need to follow so that we can inherit the riches of his glory: 1. Accepting Christ in our life Jesus is the way to heaven and the key to get our inherita...

Parole Vivante - Living Word: Do you want a big catch? Go into deep water

You are a planting of the Lord

2Sa 13:17-19 17 He called his personal servant and said, “Get this woman out of my sight and bolt the door after her.” 18 So his servant put her out and bolted the door after her. She was wearing an ornate robe, for this was the kind of garment the virgin daughters of the king wore. 19 Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the ornate robe she was wearing. She put her hands on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went. Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her. The story is about two of King David's children (Amnon and Tamar) When Amnon had finished to rape his sister Tamar, he hated her more than how he loved her (In fact he didn't love her, he had lust concerning her. Love is patient and kind.) The most important thing to learn in this story is how a simple act can destroy a life of somebody. Tamar followed all things the jewish culture asked her to do. She kept herself virgin for the one...

Do you want a big catch? Go into deep water

Luk 5:1-6 "1 On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." 5 And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets." 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. " In these particular verses of the fifth chapter of the gospel of Luke, we see how the fishermen were tired after a whole night work without any catch. They were experienced fishers but on that special night their experience couldn't h...
